Metro Classic 2011

July 23rd - 24th
McCullough Field, Laurel, MD

Format

NOTE: Regarding this weekend's Metro Classic Tournament

Due to the forecast for extreme heat on Saturday, July 23, Mid-Atlantic Volleyball (MAV) will move to a "modified" format for all Saturday divisions at the Metro Classic.  This format is as follows:

Multi pool divisions:
4 team pools:  2 games to 11 points each
5 team pools:  1 game to 15 points each
6 team pools: (multiple pool):  1 game to 11 points each

In each of the above mentioned pools, all teams will make the single elimination playoffs.  Teams will be seeded by their records with the top two teams from each pool moved to opposite sides of the draw so as to not compete against each other until the finals.
This system will limit the amount of time players are on the court and in the sun for each given match.  This should limit the number of teams who drop out before the end of pool play.  Having all teams make the playoffs will add another match and another opportunity to play a different team, while still limiting the amount of time out in the sun.

Single pool divisions:
4 team pool:  2 games to 11 points each
5 teams pool:  1 game to 15 points each
6 team pools:  (single pool):  1 game to 15 points each
7 team pools:  1 game to 11 points each
No playoffs in these pools.

As usual, MAV will have free ice water and our misting rain tent available to all participants and spectators.

Anyone who pre-registered and no longer wishes to participate in the Metro Classic on Saturday, July 23 due to this “modified” format, please email us at mav@mavolleyball.org by Friday, July 22 at 6:00pm. We will issue you a full refund.
